The fine arts of sewing, quilting and needlepoint have been passed down through the generations of Alicia's family for many years. By the age of 10, she had been taught to sew, quilt, knit, crochet and cross-stitch. As a teen, her interest in these arts waned. However, once she left home for college, she found herself very thankful to have learned many of those skills.
In 2005, Alicia decided to combine her background in corporate training with her love of sewing into a career teaching sewing. She became a Martha Pullen Licensed Heirloom Sewing Teacher that February and has since become licensed in every sewing and serging curriculum they offer. In 2011, Alicia also became a Sulky Certified Teacher and a Jenny Haskins Accredited Tutor.
Alicia currently travels the country with Martha Pullen Company teaching and assisting at various traveling schools and licensing programs as well as at the School of Art Fashion. She also designs projects and writes curriculum for these programs and events. Additionally, she has appeared on several episodes of Martha's Sewing Room on PBS in a segment called "I Love My Serger" (which she very much does!).
Locally, Alicia teaches various serging and sewing clubs and classes at Dublin Sewing Center in Dublin CA.
See the Events Calendar page for upcoming classes or contact Alicia to schedule a class or event of your own!
